The Pisgah Group includes the following counties: Henderson, Polk, and Transylvania.
The Group meets regularly to sponsor programs of general conservation and environmental interest, normally at 7 pm on the 4th Thursday of each month at the Brevard Unitarian Church (check meeting notice for directions).
Conservation is the main reason for the existence of the Pisgah Group. Among the conservation issues in which our Group is particularly interested are Energy Policy and Global Warming, water quality, National Forest management, (particularly protecting Roadless Areas), air quality, Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Gorges State Park, and DuPont State Forest). We are seeking folks who are interested in keeping track of any of these issues so they can help the rest of the Group keep up with latest needs and happenings. We are now initiating discussions on how we could move Transylvania County toward being the "greenest county" in the southeast. Please let any of our Group leaders know if you would like to become more involved.
