We will car camp at Linville Falls Campground (see address) as our basecamp, and day hike into the Linville Gorge Wilderness Areas. Hiking the East Rim Trail will afford great views into the gorge which covers over 12,000 acres of wilderness. One of the most rugged gorges in the east, Linville Gorge Wilderness Area encompasses steep walls with the Linville River roaring below. The campground is located near the gorge just off the Blue Ridge Parkway(NC), and has tent sites which require a reservation. This campground has flush toilets/cold water sinks in the restrooms. Each campsite can handle one tent and one car. Some of the campsite are double sites. A side trip to Linville Falls and gorge overlooks. More day hiking/camping details later.
